Cal gets The Axe back after ripping Stanford
Cal did its part in its quest to go to the best bowl game possible. Stanford won't be going to any bowl game at all after the Bears rolled to a 37-16 win over the Cardinal in the 111th edition of the Big Game Saturday.

A story in some editions Thursday about a rally held by community group ACORN incorrectly said ACORN officials presented the city of Pittsburg with a petition of about 1,000 signatures seeking information about the city's port development plans.  
 
A story Monday about the 2010 race for U.S. Senate erroneously reported that George Murphy hadn't been elected to the U.S. Senate. He was elected in 1964, and was appointed two days before taking his seat to gain seniority.  
 
In some editions of the Home & Garden section, a portion of a paragraph was inadvertently attached to another item. The reference to putting plants in the refrigerator for six weeks to get them on "Holland time" referred to tulips, not to redwood saplings.  
 
A photo caption on Page 3 in some Saturday editions misidentified Antioch Councilman Arne Simonsen as Jim Davis.  
 
A story on the front page Saturday about mortgage fraud included the views of Robert Gnaizda of the Greenlining Institute about the scope of investigations into possible illegal activities related to home loans.
